Texas will be hoping to negate a pair of significant patterns that have formed in the Holiday Bowl when it takes on Arizona State. In this annual contest matching the Big 12 and Pac 10 conferences, the latter owns a significant 7 & 2 ATS edge in the L9, and during that same time span, the underdogs boast a stellar 8 & 1 ATS mark. The Longhorns are favored here, but by just 1 & 1/2 points. They finished 9 & 3 straight up AND 6 & 6 ATS in ’07 and will be looking for a fourth straight bowl game victory. Arizona State was 10 & 2 straight up and also 6 & 6 ATS, but lost its last four games of the season at the betting window. This should be a nice matchup of strength vs. strength, as Texas is much stronger statistically in the trenches, with better offensive & defensive rushing numbers while ASU leads in the key passing categories.
